Were you picked last on the kickball team?

I was. When I was in elementary school, I was the tallest girl in my class. I was also the tallest boy in class. I was just - the tallest. And as Lizzo would say..."I was a thicc girl" as well. Deductive reasoning would tell you I was not the fastest runner.

But man, could I kick a big red kickball. But no one knew that at first.

It only took one game of schoolyard kickball for things to change. One big kick, one shoe flying off, and one turn to send the bases-loaded mullet-headed 2nd graders over home plate.

Like you, I have noticed that bullies on the playground can grow up to be bullies in the board room. But maybe it's that one bold move to, when last picked, you step up and crush it - sending your shoe flying and that big red ball past the kid in the outfield. Maybe it is that one time that quiets the board room bully that has always kept you in last place.

Keep volunteering. Keep trying. Keep stepping up. And loosely tie your shoe laces: extra points for the shoe flying off.
