This is one of my favorite quotes that a former supervisor used to say often. I think about it quite a bit since I first heard it about ten years ago and in classic self-reflection style, I wonder: how often do I judge others' actions in my life?
It doesn't have to be someone you supervise. What about that co-worker that just doesn't operate like you do? It's the person that is part of your group project that just doesn't plan ahead. Or the teammate that is always late to the meeting you run. Maybe it's the new intern that has traded people skills for AI skills.
Whoever it is and whatever it is, it has certainly benefitted me to catch myself when I am projecting how I would handle a situation onto someone else. Maybe it's time for all of us to chill out a little bit and let people be people.
"Nothing is impossible for those that don't have to do it."
